Avalon

World link: Here!

Welcome to the Avali homeworld, a large moon orbiting an ice giant together with 4 other moons.

The world not only has a functional day/night cycle, but also animates the celestial bodies in the sky, including the other moons’ orbits.
Enjoy a day or night in a campsite on the icy shore. This location is actually close to the equator. The entire moon is around -50°C and covered in ice. Luckily that’s just how the Avali, being Ammonia-based lifeforms, like it.

Avalon is located close to the star-dense core of the Milky Way. So, at night, you will get to see the brilliant glow of the galaxy, and so many more stars than you’re used to from Earth.

Technical

The effect in the sky works by actually running orbital calculations in Udon, solving the two-body problem for every moon paired to the planet. The skybox is a custom shader, using just a handful of ray/sphere intersections to render the moons, with realtime atmospheric scattering applied to the planet, as well as the foreground of the skybox, for Avalon’s own atmosphere.

This also means that the skybox is very detailed. You can use the telescope in the world, or the VRChat camera, or a camera on your avatar to zoom into one of the moons, and actually observe their surface details.
